Dad

August 10, 1922 - October 2, 2008

Dad

"For what is it to die but to stand naked in the wind and to melt into the sun?

And what is to cease breathing, but to free the breath from its restless tides, that it may rise and expand and seek God unencumbered?

Only when you drink from the river of silence shall you indeed sing.

And when you have reached the mountain top, then you shall begin to climb.

And when the earth shall claim your limbs, then shall you truly dance."

I'm very sorry about your loss. You chose a wonderful photo and a meaningful poem as a tribute to your dad. No matter when it happens, we feel like orphans when we lose our parents; but you are not alone.

Deb, I'm so sorry. What a great photo of your dad. He was one handsome man.

I'd never read those words from Khalil Gibran. I think that's the most beautiful thing I've ever read about death. Thank you for sharing it.

I'll be thinking and praying for you and your family.

So, so sorry Deb.
Thinking of you and your family -and your dad is watching over you.

I am so sorry about your loss Deb, thinking about you.

I follow your blog, and was saddened to see this post, though I must say it is a lovely, touching one. What a wonderful photo you chose too. No words of mine can help, but hopefully time will.

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your Father. I was a bit concerned when I saw your last post. I will pray for you and your family as you go through this difficult time.

This is my first visit to your wonderful little place. We don't know each other, but yet . . . here I am. My thoughts are with you & yours. This is a time to gather yourself in & hold each other close. Take care.

Debi

My sympathies on your loss. Our parents are our grounding and a part of us goes with them. You chose a lovely memorial in this Gibran poem.
